Good to know

Which season is best for the Karst?

Autumn is our pick — harvest, osmice season and the plateau in gold and red. Spring is best for wildflowers; winter for caves and the bora at full voice.

Do I need a car?

A car is the easiest way to string villages, cellars and trailheads together. Buses run to the main villages, and the plateau is compact enough for gravel bikes.

Can I visit the caves with kids?

Yes — guided tours of the show caves are family-friendly. They run at a constant 14 °C year-round, so bring a layer whatever the season.
