03 — Underground
Rainwater has been dissolving this plateau for two million years. Every swallow hole leads somewhere: to dripstone halls, underground rivers and chambers the size of cathedrals, all a few metres beneath the trails you walked this morning.
Two show caves open their doors to walkers; beyond them, licensed guides take small groups into the wild system — helmet on, lamp lit, down the rope. Bring a layer, wear grippy shoes, and leave the schedule loose.

Karst cross-section — surface to cave hall
Bora can exceed 100 km/h — check forecasts before ridge days.
Springs are rare on the plateau — carry more than you think.
Never enter caves without a licensed guide.
