Tactile Gallery: The Art Beyond the Visible

Slovenia's first tactile gallery invites visitors to experience art through touch. Opened on 21 March 2025 in the Mercator Centre in Kromberk, the exhibition presents tactile interpretations of masterpieces alongside original works created by Slovenian, Italian, and Croatian artists. The opening ceremony featured addresses by Vladimir Peruničič, Director of the Nova Gorica Regional Museum; Igor Miljavec, President of the Inter-Municipal Association of the Blind & Visually Impaired Nova Gorica; Mija Lorbek, Director of GO! 2025; and David Kožuh, Project Manager & Curator. The keynote was delivered by Dr. Asta Vrečko, Minister of Culture of Slovenia. The gallery is wheelchair accessible and offers audio descriptions, sign-language interpretation, and trained guides in Slovenian, Italian, and English. Secret Wisdom

Permanent ethnological exhibition by Pavel Medvešček – Klančar at Dvorec Vogrsko. As part of the GO! 2025 official programme, Dvorec Vogrsko (Vogrsko Manor) hosts a permanent ethnological exhibition by Pavel Medvešček – Klančar from 23 April 2025 to 30 August 2026. The exhibition displays more than 500 meticulously preserved artefacts collected across five decades of dedicated fieldwork. Each object tells a story of resilience, spiritual depth, and profound connection with the natural world. The preserved objects are physical testimonies of the Staroverci lifestyle in hard-to-reach and poor places, where they lived off their land and nature. For fifty years, Pavel Medvešček explored these secluded and difficult-to-traverse areas, recording the stories of his informants in the Soča Valley who remained on their land after the war. He preserved so much material that the Staroverci lifestyle has survived to this day, all of which he saved and later described in his books. The ethnological collection includes more than 500 objects from the Central Soča Valley, Čepovan, Cerkno Hills region, Idrija, and Brkini. The preserved heritage testifies that living in harmony with nature is full of knowledge, preserving our ethnic identity. The exhibition opens on 23 April 2025 at 18:00. It is open on Saturdays from 13:00 to 17:00, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 to 18:00.

City on the Border – permanent exhibition at EPIC

City on the Border (Mesto na meji) is a groundbreaking permanent exhibition curated by Dr. Kaja Širok at the EPIC Interpretation Centre in Nova Gorica. It presents the complex history of the Goriška region through the personal and collective stories of its inhabitants, offering a human and emotional perspective on life along the Italy-Yugoslavia border before, during and after the two world wars. The exhibition encourages dialogue on identity, borders and shared heritage, and invites visitors to contribute their own reflections and stories. Impressionism and Modernity - Masterpieces from the Kunst Museum Winterthur

Exhibition produced by PromoTurismoFVG, the Municipality of Udine, and MondoMostre, curated by David Schmidhauser and Vania Gransinigh. The exhibition "Impressionism and Modernity. Masterpieces from the Kunst Museum Winterthur" is an internationally significant exhibition project that brings 91 works by the greatest masters of modern European art to Friuli Venezia Giulia. The works on display include masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Wassily Kandinsky, René Magritte, Max Ernst, Paul Klee, and Giorgio de Chirico, among others. Developed by the Municipality of Gorizia, Crossroads of Europe 2026 presents a rich programme of cultural, historical and nature-based itineraries aimed at enhancing the cross-border territory between Italy and Slovenia. Now in its fourth edition, the project introduces new perspectives and lesser-known routes, created in collaboration with local associations and institutions engaged in preserving heritage and collective memory. Gorizia and Nova Gorica emerge as a shared cultural space where histories and identities intertwine. Art Without Borders 2026 is the fourth edition of Farra d'Isonzo's inclusive festival, running from 11 July to 20 October 2026 across the Collio and Gorizia. 45th International Violin Competition RODOLFO LIPIZER PRIZE

The 45th Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition will take place from 5 to 13 September 2026, with a registration deadline of 30 April 2026. All auditions—solo violin, violin and piano, and violin and orchestra—will be held at the Kulturni center Lojze Bratuž theatre, Viale XX Settembre, 85, 34170 Gorizia, Italy. The competition attracts violinists from around the world, offering a platform to launch a successful career. An international jury rewards talent across a repertoire spanning Baroque to contemporary music, including a piece composed specifically for the competition each year by the president of the previous year's jury. Participants demonstrate skills in interpretation, technique—tackling the complexity of Rodolfo Lipizer's studies for solo violin—and dialogue with piano and orchestra. The most talented violinists are awarded prizes.

GO&GO Half Marathon 2026

First edition of the GO&GO Half Marathon – Cross-border Half Marathon of the City of Gorizia After 42 editions of the historic Maratonina Città di Gorizia, an event that in its latest editions involved around 700 athletes from Northern Italy, the 1st edition of the GO&GO Half Marathon gets underway. The event is included in the Fidal national calendar and in the Gorizia Province Trophy, which sees the participation of high-profile athletes, including runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Burundi. Departure and arrival in Corso Verdi/corner of Via Garibaldi. Departures: 9.30 am - competitive race; 9.35 am - non-competitive walk. The 21.0975km route has a positive difference in altitude of 100m.

BeWell is the first U-30 run club in Gorizia, born from a shared passion for sport, wellbeing, aesthetics, and good taste. BeWell Run Club is a wellbeing-first community run, created from a shared vision: running not as performance or results, but as a lifestyle, a simple, repeatable ritual that helps build balance and connection. We meet every Thursday for an easy-pace run in an open and inclusive atmosphere, where showing up matters more than competing. The format is clear: meet-up at 18:45, warm-up, and start at 19:00 at Piazza della Vittoria, Gorizia, with an accessible route of around 5K easy. Everyone can keep their own pace; the goal is to move well, feel better, and do it together. BeWell is, first of all, a space for community. A Captivating Family Theatre Adventure Through Greek Mythology

Part of the summer program at the Teatro Comunale G. Verdi in Gorizia, the show by Bottega Rea – Centro Teatrale Da Ponte, directed by Edoardo Fainello, is intended for audiences ages 5 and up. The production combines theatrical performances and music to tell the great classical myths in a light-hearted and accessible way. The timeless stories of ancient Greece come to life on the Gorizia stage through the adventures of the satyr Pan and the muse Thalia, played by Davide Ostan, Bianca Padoin, and Eleonora Ruzza. Banished from Olympus by Zeus, the two protagonists will challenge the king of the gods to tell young spectators the legendary tales of Prometheus, Odysseus, and Orpheus. Thanks to an original and brilliant dramaturgical rewrite, the show offers a valuable opportunity for cultural dissemination, introducing new generations to the richness of classical mythology through entertainment and musical accompaniment. The Emilia-Romagna Regional Youth Choir, conducted by Elisa Dal Corso, offered a programme that travelled across four centuries of sacred music, from the counterpoint of Palestrina to the luminous harmonies of today's Nordic masters. The concert formed part of the Concerti in Basilica season and the GO! 2025 programme for Gorizia–Nova Gorica, European Capital of Culture.

On Sunday, 2 August 2026, the EPICenter in Nova Gorica opened its doors free of charge for its monthly open day, with guided tours in Italian and Slovenian through the permanent exhibition City on the Border (Mesto na meji). The tours walked locals and cross-border day-trippers through a century in which this single town was Austro-Hungarian Görz, Italian Gorizia, divided front line, and finally Nova Gorica–Gorizia: the first truly borderless European Capital of Culture. The free first-Sunday programme is part of the legacy of GO! 2025, the European Capital of Culture year shared by Nova Gorica and Gorizia. On the first Sunday of each month, admission to City on the Border costs nothing, with guided visits in Italian at 10:00 and Slovenian at 16:00. The exhibition, curated by Dr Kaja Širok, tells the history of the Goriška region through personal and collective stories, objects, photographs, film footage and oral memories.

Turtle's Dream

As part of the GO! 2025 summer programme at Palazzo de Grazia in Gorizia, this enchanting show by Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri, conceived and performed by Andrea Lugli, is designed for families and children aged 3 and up. The production blends actor-led theatre, live puppets and captivating live music, creating a magical experience that transports young audiences to the heart of the African savannah. The Gorizia stage is transformed by the evocative atmosphere of the African continent, brought to life through a delicate fable about patience and faith in one's dreams. The savannah animals are the protagonists of the production, brought to life through visible animated puppetry techniques that constantly interact with the actor on stage. A musical accompaniment performed entirely live enriches the young audience's sensory experience, featuring stirring rhythms and traditional African instruments including djembe drums and percussion. The event is an artistically valuable, highly educational experience, capable of combining entertainment and reflection on nature. The 17th edition of the Aquileia Film Festival returns from 28 July to 4 August 2026 in Piazza Capitolo, Aquileia. The Da Ponte Theater Center presents a new version of Lewis Carroll's celebrated masterpiece, directed by Edoardo Fainello and designed for audiences ages 5 and up. The 60-minute show blends theatrical performances and live music in an interactive family experience. Carroll's timeless classic comes to life on stage thanks to performances by Davide Ostan, Bianca Padoin, and Eleonora Ruzza. Led by a new narrator, children will be accompanied on Alice's fantastical journey, encountering iconic characters such as the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, and the fearsome Queen of Hearts. From July 22 to 25, 2026, the Isonzo Park in Fiumicello Villa Vicentina hosts the 18th edition of AESON — Italy's premier free eco-festival dedicated to the harmony between creativity and the environment. Four immersive days of performances, concerts, land art installations, and multimedia experiences interact with the river ecosystem. 45° Premio Sergio Amidei

Il filo invisibile delle idee

The 45th edition of the "Sergio Amidei" International Award for Best Screenplay returns to Gorizia from 16 to 22 July 2026, carrying forward a legacy that spans more than four decades of celebrating cinema's most fundamental art form: the screenplay. This year's theme, "Il filo invisibile delle idee" (The Invisible Thread of Ideas), invites reflection on the creative journey that transforms thought into images. Organized by the "Sergio Amidei" Cultural Association in partnership with DAMS – Audiovisual, Media and Entertainment Disciplines (an inter-university course run by the Universities of Udine and Trieste) and the Palazzo del Cinema – Hiša Filma Association, the festival is one of Europe's most prestigious awards dedicated to screenwriting. Journey to the Center of the Earth

A show for families and children ages 5 and up that transforms Jules Verne's classic into a contemporary adventure combining theatrical performances and video animations. The production, produced by the Panta Rei Group and directed by Paolo Bergamo and Barbara Scalco, runs approximately 60 minutes. The Panta Rei Group brings to the stage a technological and pop reinterpretation of a great classic of science fiction literature. 63rd Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competition

Gorizia re-establishes itself as a global capital of choral music by hosting the 63rd Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competition from 9 to 13 July 2026. Presented by the Gorizia Choral Association "C. A. Seghizzi" and honoured with the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, the competition welcomes elite choirs from around the world to compete across sacred polyphony, secular polyphony, spirituals, gospel, pop, jazz, folk, and contemporary music categories. Little Red Riding Hood

Jonah's Provocation, a show/concert in the Basilica

Teatro del Leone presents Jonah's Provocation, an original concert-theatrical performance inside the Patriarchal Basilica of Aquileia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. On Wednesday, 1 July 2026 at 20:30, performers Gabriella Burba, Romana Maiori and Dario Ponissi invite the audience to reflect on contemporary society and the future, starting from the Basilica's sixth-century Jonah Cycle mosaic. Spectators sit near the ancient floor mosaic during the show, creating an intimate dialogue between art, history and reflection. Admission is free and no reservation is required.

Sagadin & Mian International Basketball Camp Tolmin 2026

The Sagadin & Mian International Basketball Camp returns for its 15th edition in 2026, bringing together two living legends of European basketball in the stunning Soča Valley. Young players aged 9 to 18 will train under legendary Slovenian coach Zmago Sagadin and former Italian international Michele Mian in Tolmin, Slovenia. The 2026 program offers two week-long sessions: Session 1 runs from June 28 to July 4, and Session 2 runs from July 5 to July 11. Each session is limited to 120 participants and includes two daily training sessions, full-board accommodation at the renovated Soča CŠOD dormitory, camp equipment, 24-hour supervision, on-site medical support, and individual player evaluations with personalized development plans. Beyond basketball, campers and their families can explore the breathtaking Soča Valley — rafting on the emerald Soča River, hiking in the Julian Alps, visiting the Tolmin Gorges, and discovering the region's rich cultural heritage. Japan - Bodies, Memories, Visions

The Trieste exhibition presents over 80 works including photographs and videos created by 16 contemporary Japanese artists: Asakai Yoko, Hayashi Noriko, Ishikawa Naoki, Kai Keijiro, Kawauchi Rinko, Momose Aya, Nagashima Yurie, Nomura Sakiko, Shimonishi Susumu, Sato Tokihiro, Sugimoto Hiroshi, Suzuki Risaku, Suzuki Ryoko, Tomoko Yoneda, Miyagi Futoshi and Yokota Daisuke. The exhibition is structured around three thematic cores—Memory and Identity, Body and Bodies, Reality and Vision—offering a broad and nuanced overview of the current Japanese photography and video scene. The works on display bring together internationally recognized masters and the research of new generations, committed to reinterpreting Japan's recent history, questioning gender issues, everyday life, and the use of the body as a political tool. As curator Filippo Maggia observes, Japanese photography, recognized since the 1930s as one of the most important schools on an international level and also established in the early years of the new millennium with authors such as Hiroshi Sugimoto, Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama, is today undergoing a phase of generational renewal. This change marks a progressive approach to Western themes and sensibilities. While Japanese photography often developed a strongly identitarian and self-referential language during the twentieth century, many contemporary artists now take as a reference not only the complexity of their own national context but also global changes, establishing a dialogue with issues such as collective memory, social relations, the environment, image perception, and gender identities. In the Memory and Identity section, Noriko Hayashi and Tomoko Yoneda reread crucial events in recent Japanese history through a documentary and participatory approach. Susumu Shimonishi reflects on the continuity and fractures of the past through zenithal shots and moving images that become a measure of time. Naoki Ishikawa, a student of Daido Moriyama, recounts daily life on the Okunoto Peninsula, suspended between tradition and marginality. The celebrations and rituals that define the country's cultural fabric emerge in Keijiro Kai's photographs, while Miyagi Futoshi's videos investigate personal memory and the construction of gender identity through an intimate narrative of memories and relationships. Guided tour: Secrets of the Roman fort of Castro

An immersive experience to discover the ancient Castra, once an important Roman fortress and now a precious heritage site of the Vipava Valley. Led by an expert guide, participants will follow the traces of Roman life among archaeological remains, city walls, and places rich in history, to understand the past in an engaging and accessible way. The tour takes place from April 15 to June 24, 2026, every Wednesday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., meeting at the Ajdovščina Tourist Information Center (Prešernova 9). The tour lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours and is suitable for individuals, couples, families, and small groups. The minimum number of participants is 3. The cost for scheduled shifts is: Adults: €39; Students and seniors: €29; Children 5–12 years: €17; Children under 5: free. A Thousand Years of History at Borgo Castello: Free Guided Tours

At 10:30 am, the "Classic Itinerary" is on the agenda, leading along historic streets (Via Rastello, Via Cocevia) to the Castle Settlement and Gorizia Castle with a tour of the walls. At 3:30 p.m., a tour of the “Different Ascent to the Castle” will follow through the castle park along Via Giustiniani. Thematic tours are also available: on May 10 and June 7, “From the Castle Settlement to the Gorizia Synagogue” and on May 24 and June 21, “From Travnik to the Coronini Cronberg Palace”. Participation is free, prior registration is required, maximum 25 people per group.

Exhibition The Power of Creation

The Green House (Zelena hiša) in Kobarid hosts The Power of Creation, an exhibition by the Goriška Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The exhibition showcases creative works by members of the society, celebrating artistic expression as a source of strength and community. CONNECTED IN MUSIC

Cross-border music walk on the occasion of the European Music Festival 21 June | BRDA – COLLIO As part of the European Music Festival, a unique cross-border music event "Connected in Music / Insieme nella musica" will take place on 21 June, connecting the Slovenian Brda and the Italian Collio in a joint outdoor musical experience. The event will be designed as a music walk along two routes: BRDA Route: Šmartno – Kozana – Vila Vipolže COLLIO Route: Števerjan – Gornje Cerovo – Vila Vipolže The program starts at 16:00. The Brda Route begins in Šmartno (Slovenia) and the Collio Route begins in Števerjan (Italy). On both routes, participants will experience intermediate musical stations: Kozana offers a 30-minute music program, and Gornje Cerovo also features a 30-minute music program. The finish of both routes is scheduled for around 18:00 in front of Vila Vipolže, where the final performance of all registered musical groups will take place. The conclusion will be dedicated to a joint musical moment with the performance of the European Anthem and Souza's march "King Cotton March" (notes will be available to all participants). Bird Morphology: A Tactile Exhibition

As part of the Art Beyond the Visible project, the Tactile Gallery at Mercator Center Nova Gorica presents Bird Morphology: A Tactile Exhibition. Curated by Ana Turičnik, a master's student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, the display invites visitors to discover four birds through touch. Designed for blind and visually impaired visitors as well as sighted guests, the exhibition opens on Summer Museum Night and is followed by a public guided tour of the permanent tactile gallery. The project promotes inclusive access to art and is developed by the Museum of Nova Gorica / Goriški muzej together with the Inter-Municipal Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired Nova Gorica.

Documentary Exhibition: THE WILD 1970s IN CARINTHIA

tolta su richiesta cliente 19/03/2025--> The events of the 1970s placed Carinthia at the center of political and media attention due to the issue of the Slovenian minority in Austria. Of particular importance was the 1976 census of the minority, which revealed the futility of attempts to restrict the rights guaranteed by Article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty. Thanks to the resistance of Carinthian Slovenes and broader solidarity, this attempt failed. This period was also a time of emancipation, in which young people played a significant role. The Slovenian High School Center played a key role, fostering an educated and socially conscious youth that demanded equal rights and connected with democratic initiatives at home and abroad. The exhibition also encourages visitors to reflect on what society would be like if the rights provided for in Article 7 were fully realized. Enochroma: art wine degustation

Enochroma: where wine and art meet in a dialogue of aromas, emotions, and color. A key part of the event is a live painting performance by Serena Comar (ITA), Melania Kalz (SLO), and Ana Beltrán Porcar (ESP), who invite the audience to experience wine in a deeper way. Enochroma celebrates the meeting of art, wine, and landscape, exploring Europe’s wine regions where nature, culture, and tradition come together. During the event, the three artists work side by side, creating large paintings live, inspired by the wines guests taste throughout the evening. Each sip becomes color and gesture, forming a shared story of the tasting. Enochroma invites the audience to discover wines and their stories while watching the artworks being created in real time, in a shared and engaging experience.

CULTURAL EVENT ON THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHERRY FESTIVAL

The program also includes an exhibition by the Briški časnik, which, on its 30th anniversary, presents a selection of Cherry Festival covers as a reflection of its visual and historical image. The evening will conclude with a concert by the Brda choirs, with a musical program dedicated to Brda, cherries, and nature. Cesare Cremonini's concert

The concert is part of the “GoToPordenone&Friends” series, the program that connects Nova Gorica–Gorizia 2025 European Capital of Culture and Pordenone 2027 Italian Capital of Culture, with a series of events designed to enhance the regional territory in 2026. The former airport area, a significant example of aeronautical architecture and a defining feature of the city, is the focus of a major redevelopment and enhancement project that will transform it into a new space dedicated to major musical events. The Gorizia date is organized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in collaboration with PromoTurismoFVG, the Municipality of Gorizia, Live Nation Italia, FVG Music Live, and Vigna PR.

The excursion includes a walking route corresponding to the prologue of the Camino Celeste. Leaving aside the official starting point, the Island of Barbana, we proceed from Grado, following the bike path and dirt roads to the pine forest of San Marco, the place where, according to tradition, the evangelist arrived from Alexandria, Egypt, to evangelize Aquileia. Meeting at 8:45 am and departure at 9:00 am from the Casa Rossa crossing car park in Gorizia. Expected return time is 6:00 pm. Lunch on your own in Aquileia. Borders Laboratory of Europe

On the occasion of the publication of the volume containing the winning investigations of the Border Stories Journalism Award, Massimiliano Tarantino (Director of the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation), Widad Tamimi (journalist and writer), and Marzio G. Mian (investigative journalist and writer) explore the border as a civil and political laboratory, a living territory where the contradictions of contemporary life and the promises of transformation are laid bare. The meeting concludes the Border Stories series, a project by the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region's Department of Culture and Sport and GECT GO. Beethoven: From Darkness to Light

The FVG Orchestra presents a diptych that explores Beethoven's tension between titanism and spirituality, uniting two masterpieces composed in the same year (1807) in an ideal journey "from darkness to light." The programme includes the Coriolanus Overture in C minor, op. 62 and the Mass in C major for soloists, choir and orchestra, op. 86. Admission is free upon reservation on the èStoria website. The concert is the third of three major cross-border cultural events of the BeWoP project – Beyond Walk of Peace: from Crossborder Historical Research and Cultural Heritage to European Trail and Stories. "Influencers, Prophets, Icons. Charismatic Authority and Consensus from the Sacred to the Web" is the title of the first event, which will take place on Thursday, May 28th at 6:00 PM in the Aula Magna of the Santa Chiara University Campus. The panel will feature Max Andreetta, a professional journalist and correspondent for Le Iene, and Filippo Caccamo, a comedian and content creator with 2.5 million followers on social media. From religious and traditional charisma to contemporary role models: influencers, creators, and cultural leaders. Friulian Culture Week

Since 2014, The Friulian Philological Society (Società Filologica Friulana) has organized the Friulian Culture Week, a series of events promoting the historical, linguistic and artistic heritage of Friuli. The initiative brings together institutions, associations, public bodies, libraries, universities and local communities through a rich programme of conferences, exhibitions and cultural events. It encourages cooperation among organizations engaged in preserving and promoting Friulian culture, fostering dialogue between tradition and modernity. èStoria 2026 – 22nd International History Festival

èStoria 2026 – 22nd edition of the International History Festival Theme: "Religions" Gorizia, 28–31 May 2026 Since 2005, Gorizia has hosted èStoria - International History Festival, the largest Italian event dedicated to history, held each May. The event aims to be a point of reference for historical and historiographical discussion and debate on the major changes that have marked the course of history, from its origins to the present day. During the Festival, tens of thousands of visitors flock to the city to attend meetings with historians, writers, artists, journalists and leading figures from national and international cultural life, who address relevant topics from past and contemporary history. èStoria Film Festival 2026 – 6th edition The relationship between èStoria-International History Festival and cinema has been consolidated over time through numerous occasions, ranging from documentaries to fiction, culminating in 2021 with the birth of the èStoria Film Festival, the first film festival inspired by and dedicated to history: a week of screenings, retrospectives, rare and new international films, and the awarding of the èStoria Film Festival Prize. GO MAKERS – Mani d’Arte & Calici di Gusto is a cultural and experiential event celebrating the finest expressions of Gorizia’s regional craftsmanship, local food heritage, and artisanal know-how. On 16 and 17 May 2026, the atmospheric setting of Via Rastello and Casa Krainer will welcome visitors to a vibrant programme featuring a curated artisan market, experiential workshops, live demonstrations of traditional craft techniques, cultural talks, and special features dedicated to local heritage. Staged as a walking route through the historic quarter, the event invites visitors to experience the city through the people, skills, and products that shape its identity. Guests will meet master makers and artisan producers, discover carefully selected handmade creations, and explore traditional knowledge reinterpreted in contemporary ways. 21st Rose Festival

In Nova Gorica, the city of roses, the 21st Rose Festival will once again bring together lovers of nature, culture, cuisine, and heritage. The scent of vintage bourbons has already filled the garden of the Franciscan Monastery in Kostanjevica, and colorful rose gardens will soon flourish in the city. The festival is organized by the Gorizia Rose Lovers' Association in cooperation with the Municipality of Nova Gorica, the Nova Gorica and Vipava Valley Tourist Board, and with the support of the Franciscan Monastery of Kostanjevica, the Hit company, and other partners. This year, the Friendship and Peace Wine Cellar and Xcenter Nova Gorica (GO! 2025) are also joining the festival for the first time. Between April 25th and May 17th, the festival will offer a wealth of interesting, educational, and social experiences. The program will connect tours of the Bourbon Garden in Kostanjevica and elsewhere in the city, walks among rose groves, workshops, a concert, readings of poetry about roses, culinary experiences with a rose touch, and moments of relaxation in the embrace of roses. The experience of Bourbon roses remains at the forefront, and this year the festival will once again intertwine heritage, culture, and local offerings in the unique ambiance of the Franciscan Monastery in Kostanjevica, where stories of the past vividly intertwine with the pulse of the present.

A workshop with the artist Hermes Mangialardo, aimed at young people aged 30 and under from Italy and Slovenia, during which they will work alongside international artists to experiment with light art and multimedia techniques on the theme of borders and explore the future of the cross-border region. H.E.M. is a comic artist, visual light artist, creator of 3D video mapping and a visual design teacher. His short films and music videos have received over 100 awards at national and international festivals. The Enchanted Palace: Theatrical Tour at Palazzo Coronini Cronberg

On 16 and 17 May 2026, Palazzo Coronini Cronberg hosts an engaging theatrical tour for families. A journey through mystery, history and imagination designed for children. Produced by ArtistiAssociati in collaboration with the Coronini Cronberg Foundation, the experience invites children aged 6–10 and their families to explore the palace through an adventurous storyline. Participants will join the butler and the governess to solve the mysterious disappearance of the young Count and an ancient clock with time-travelling powers.

ARDOR OR THE SOUL OPEN TO THE SUN

Concert for church bells for the city of Gorizia by Llorenç Barber, conducted by Montserrat Palacios. On May 23, Gorizia will host Spanish composer and artist Llorenç Barber (Valencia, 1948), a living legend of Spanish experimental music, renowned worldwide for his concert for city bells. The concert will involve the cathedral as well as numerous bell towers and bells in the historic center. The preferred listening area will be the castle due to its central location, but the concert will be accessible throughout the Borgo Castello and surrounding areas. Everyone will be able to create their own listening experience while walking through the streets of the city center. The bells will be played by the Campanari del Goriziano/Pritrkovalci Goriške/Scampanotadôrs dal Gurizan, and by the Scampanottadôrs Furlans, who will participate in the workshop led by the artist himself along with the director Montserrat Palacios.

“GO! Games 2026”

Cross-border neighbourhood games between the municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter-Vrtojba “GO! Games”. The event maintains a strong connection with culture, particularly through the treasure hunt, while also introducing new elements in the spirit of the GO! 2025 project to make it even more engaging and appealing. This year's main venue is the Valletta del Corno sports hall and the adjacent park. Around a hundred children aged 10–11 will take part in the morning, competing in the GO! Games School competition, organised in collaboration with schools on both sides of the border. The event is organised by LUCINIS as part of the GO! The group, comprised of musicians from Palermo with a passion for ethnic music, has named itself “Beyond the Fado” with the resolution of interpreting and rearranging ancient and modern folk songs, not just from Portugal, and to put forward newly composed pieces.

International Enogastronomic, Historical and Didactic Hike

The event is a non-professional hike, aimed at discovering the karst landscape in the Grmada area, with natural attractions and culinary stops. The trail is marked and approximately 10 km long, and participants walk it independently. There are four starting points: Devin (train station), Cerovlje (adventure park), Medjevas (football field), and Brestovica (Klariči). The start is free, without guidance, between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Registration and payment of the entry fee, which is €20.00 for adults and €15.00 for children under 13, is required before the start. Tasting points with local products are planned along the route, which participants receive in the form of vouchers upon registration. The hike ends at Kohišče, where a hot meal and socializing are available from 12:00.

Jedka Palestina

EPIC Gallery, in collaboration with ŠKUC Gallery, presents the exhibition *Jedka Palestina* (Sharp Palestine), a selection of works by Palestinian artist Samira Badran, who lives and works in Spain. The exhibition combines drawing, photography, painting, collage, and experimental animation. Samira Badran's artistic practice is based on drawing as a fundamental expression, which she develops in various media. Palestine is at the center of her work, focusing on themes of apartheid, fragmentation of the body and space, and collective memory. The exhibition *Etching Palestine* offers an in-depth insight into the work of an artist who, through the intertwining of personal and collective history, creates a visual language of resistance, memory, and persistence. On the trail of the glass art of the Gorizia area

The exhibition, held in the Giardino dell'incontro of the Provincial Museums of Borgo Castello and the Museum of Fashion and Applied Arts in Gorizia, is part of the SPF Interreg Glass Routes project. It tells the story of glass production in the Trnova Forest, now in Slovenia, but in the 18th century part of the County of Gorizia and Gradisca within the Habsburg dominions. Completing the exhibition, a slideshow of photographs by Massimo Crivellari runs at the museum entrance. These images recount the silent beauty of the Tarnova Forest, the place where this story took shape and where the profound connection between nature, work, and memory can still be felt today. Isonzo Landscapes

On Tuesday, April 28 at 11:30 a.m., the exhibition “Isonzo Landscapes,” dedicated to Italico Brass (1870–1943), will be inaugurated in the main floor rooms of the Town Hall. The initiative stems from the intention to enhance the historical and artistic heritage preserved at Palazzo Attems Santa Croce, where several works by the artist are held, including *Chioggia Life Scene* and *Peace*, as well as his portrait by Emma Galli Gallovich. Building on this core, the exhibition presents a coherent selection of paintings from public and private collections, featuring views of Gorizia and the Isonzo area, including the Isonzo River, Mount Sabotino and the town castle. The display offers a concise yet meaningful overview of Brass’s landscape production and his connection to the territory. In continuity with the reflections developed during Nova Gorica–Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025, the exhibition explores the idea of a shared cross-border landscape.

EARTH GAZES BACK II

The More-than-Planet project brings together art, science, and participatory practices and promotes the development of environmental literacy. The exhibition, held in the spaces of the former salt warehouse by the sea and curated by Marko Peljhan—an internationally renowned artist, researcher, scientist, and professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA), who hails from the coastal region—takes on an additional symbolic dimension in Portorož. The Monfort Gallery, as a space of materiality, history, and transition, becomes the setting for a reflection on the planet as a material, political, and sensory reality. The exhibition will be attended by the artists, who are currently arriving in Portorož from across Europe, and the exhibition curators. At the same time, the exhibition builds an important cultural bridge between European spaces, as it is linked to the ISOLABS project (European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia) and the European Capital of Culture Oulu 2026 project in Finland, and is produced in collaboration with the Piran Coastal Galleries and with the support of the Municipality of Piran. This is a project with a strong environmental focus, presented at major European cultural venues. The opening will take place on Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m.

Anja Medved and Nadja Velušček: Zone of Transition

For several years now, SCCA-Ljubljana, in collaboration with the Slovenian Cinematheque, has been organizing reviews of the works of key female and male creators at the intersection of film and video. Following Ema Kugler, Miha Vipotnik, Marko A. Kovačič, Neven Korda, and Nataša Prosenc Stearns, who have had a major impact on the alternative scene in Ljubljana, this year we turn to Goriška, where Anja Medved (1969) and Nadja Velušček (1948) have been working as an authorial duo since the late 1990s. We are opening a retrospective of their films on Wednesday, December 17, and will be dedicating one film evening to it every month until June 2026 at the Slovenian Cinematheque. In May, we will also move to the Vodnik Homestead, where Ljubljana's testimonies about the period during and after World War II were exhibited a decade ago. Part of the program will also be available during the retrospective at the Slovenian Film Database, where you will be able to view their other works. In their work, the author duo Velušček-Medved focuses on exploring the Slovenian-Italian border area. In doing so, the authors subtly delineate the personal and the public spheres: they draw on intimate narratives and vivid testimonies of individuals, from their personal archives, which they connect to the history of grand narratives, thereby carefully revealing the polyphony of historical Truth. As Ervin Hladnik Milharčič notes in *Mesto na travniku* (Town in a Meadow, 2004), there are always at least two truths at the border: the Soča is the Isonzo, the Miracle at Kobarid is the Disaster at Kobarid, Nova Gorica becomes old after crossing Europe Square... Their work of researching memory and creating an archive has proven to be extremely important, as they have captured the memories of generations that were slowly disappearing. This gesture gave rise to several different film projects, including *Ordinacija spomina* (The Memory Clinic, 2010), *Sešiti spomini* (Stitched Memories, 2015), and *Podobe pozabe* (Images of Oblivion, 2015). The search for the almost invisible traces of memory, trauma, and, last but not least, the soul of a place is woven through various themes by the authors: the city plays a major role—the once completely new Yugoslav city of Nova Gorica and, on the other hand, the "old" Italian Gorizia, e.g., in the films *Mesto na travniku* (City on the Meadow) and *Moja meja* (My Border) (2002); they also explore the landscape and people through the Soča River, with their research marked by a strong ecological awareness, e.g., in the films *Trenutek reke* (2010), *Ujeta voda* (2014), and *Beli oblak* (2021). They reflect on the role of art in society and the relationship between art and their native landscape in documentary notes and films that accompany the famous cultural center of Topolovo, e.g., in the film *Običaj in prevara* (Custom and Deception, 2010). Their first feature-length documentary, *Forget me not* (2025), which explores memories of World War II, will also be presented. Since the Velušček-Medved duo mainly produces medium-length documentaries, we have created a series of film pairs to review their creative oeuvre. We wanted to design the program in such a way that the paired films would repeatedly articulate the boundary and the borderline—as if we were moving from Nova Gorica to "Old" Gorizia, from modernist architecture to the old town center—and give us a sense of the transition that fundamentally characterizes the work of Anja Medved and Nadja Velušček. The opening screening of the film *Mesto na travniku* (City on the Meadow), dedicated to the history of Nova Gorica, is juxtaposed with *Spovednica tihotapcev* (Smuggler’s Confessional, 2010), in which people recall memories of a place marked by the border. A catalogue with an in-depth accompanying study by Dr. Andrej Šprah will also be published to accompany the retrospective. The catalogue is co-published by the Slovenian Cinematheque and the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia.

DAG - Digital Art Gallery Gorizia

Europe's largest digital gallery - in Gorizia! Featuring the DATA TUNNEL installation, a constantly evolving visual organism by renowned digital artist Refik Anadol. The DATA TUNNEL installation generates nature-inspired forms in real time: botanical textures, ocean movements, and atmospheric rhythms become dynamic digital flows. The work is based on the Large Nature Model, an artificial intelligence trained on millions of visual and audio data points collected from real ecosystems according to ethical criteria. The algorithms do not imitate nature, but rather reveal aspects of it that are normally imperceptible, translating environmental data into an accessible aesthetic experience. The gallery is conceived as an immersive journey where AI images flow across LED surfaces, engaging with the historic architecture and transforming the passageway into an environment of contemplation. The history of the site, known as Galleria Bombi, dates back to Carlo Coronini, mayor of Gorizia in the second half of the 19th century, who was the first to envision a tunnel under the Castle to reach the animal market at Rafut. Excavations began in 1943, and the tunnel was used as an air raid shelter; work, suspended due to the war, resumed in 1949 and was completed in 1950. In the 1950s, it was inaugurated as a link between the two parts of the city and dedicated to Giorgio Bombi, who served as mayor several times and was appointed senator in 1920. For decades, it served as a pedestrian and bicycle passage for Italian and Slovenian citizens. After a period of closure and renovations, it has been reborn with an urban regeneration project. The renovation has given life to the DAG – Digital Art Gallery, featuring a latest-generation curved LED Wall: approximately 1000 m² of surface area and almost 100 meters of visual continuity in the central section. The first work in the DAG, the installation DATA TUNNEL, is by Refik Anadol (Istanbul, 1985), a pioneer of AI-generated art. Head of Refik Anadol Studio in Los Angeles, he teaches at UCLA and has exhibited at MoMA, the Centre Pompidou, the Serpentine Galleries, Palazzo Strozzi, and Sphere in Las Vegas. The Gorizia DAG will be inaugurated at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, December 16, in the presence of Italian and Slovenian authorities. The first public admissions will follow at 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM, by reservation.
